It’s been a year and a half since this crisis started. We’ve all been on such a rollercoaster ride and it’s taken its toll on many of us. It’s hurt our pleasure, our happiness and it’s kept us in a state of deep anxiety.
But NOW it’s time to focus on the upswing. Let go of the past and boldly step into the future. Because if NOT now then when?
It’s time to, as everyone is saying, figure out “the new better normal.”
We’ve never had an opportunity like this in our lifetime before.
An opportunity for a fresh start. An opportunity to shed what is not working and to focus on what we want in life!
An opportunity to step forward in love, in connection, and define ourselves as powerful, feminine creatures who accept nothing but the best for our lives and our loved ones. So how can we do this?
How can we reclaim our lives and power as women?.
There are three simple things you can do right now to start creating a NEW BETTER NORMAL.
First, we have to assess the damage.
This crisis has disproportionately affected women — African Americans and Latinas most of all. Not that this is anything new. (1,2)
The most vulnerable of our society have been marginalized for years and what’s happening right now is nothing out of the ordinary.
Women have been forced out of work or placed against their will on the front lines. They are homeschooling and many other are taking care of family members.
And for small business owners? The ride hasn’t been exactly smooth, either. (3)
Trying to keep the lights on, offer a supportive shoulder to employees who have been deeply affected by the situation, and juggling vanishing cash flow — it’s been extremely stressful, to say the least.
But I still believe that the best and most effective way to empower women is by:
- Giving them the tools to create vibrant health.
- Teaching others the path to entrepreneurship.
So I keep getting up every day and showing up and doing the work I was put on this planet to do and you should too!
Yet, I realize that we can’t move forward without getting a firm lay of the land. We have to understand where we ARE to get where we want to GO. To assess the damage, one has to take an honest look at our lives and where we are not happy, dissatisfied, and feeling alone/isolated?
Where are we NOT meeting ourselves and giving away your power? Is it in a relationship, a job, or even with family? Take the inventory, and yes, this can be a painful and, at the same time, liberating process. Once the inventory is taken, then and only then can you make the necessary changes to move forward.
Compassion, self-empathy, and self-forgiveness go a long way when doing the inventory, so please be gentle with yourself.
I am a big believer in small steps when it comes to significant changes. Many of us want to make big changes quickly, and it can create havoc and a lot of stress. So make the changes by taking small steps and not biting off more than you can chew. It’s been a year and a half, and it’s going to take time.
The most important thing is to be aware of what needs changing and then commit to doing it. The other big thing is to throw FEAR out the window. Fear is the one thing that can hold a Queen back in her life. So pays attention to when it comes up and knows that it’s just your brain taking the best of you. Sometimes we have to step into our fears to get the life we desire.
Next, we find balance
We have to remember how we got here.
We can’t just dive headfirst back into our old lives the same as we lived them before this crisis.
This illness affects those with underlying health conditions the most…and many of those health conditions were created by a lifestyle and mindset that has been forced upon us. (4)
A mindset that puts little value on love and kindness. A lifestyle that requires so much activity and consumption that it’s nearly impossible to find the time to lay a good foundation for health.
Have you been surprised at how much time you’ve spent cooking meals and going for daily walks? That’s because self-care takes time and we’re taught that it’s something we should put last on the list.
It’s time to create a new list of priorities — one that honors our health first.
A new set of priorities that honor self-love, compassion, kindness, and a willingness to live your own life without judgment of yourself and others! In other words, be free to live and let live.
Then, we call in love
Radical, transformational, and unconditional self-love is what’s called for right now.
We have to remember that we can’t help others unless we put our own oxygen masks on first.
What the world requires of us right now is strength — strength to rise up and step into our divine feminine power.
Strength to love ourselves again fully and completely despite our perceived shortcomings. Selflove is a muscle that we need to strengthen every single day. It’s not easy to love ourselves and most of us don’t. We only see our shortcomings and forget to appreciate the good that is within us.
I recommend that you start making a list of all the things you’ve done or said that make you feel like a total Queen, and when doubts begin to creep in, pull out that list and read out how terrific and fabulous you are. I teach these types of tools to my women in my Pelvic Wellness Community because it is essential to remember the good in ourselves, the world, and our lives. Our tendency is the opposite, and we hurt ourselves unknowingly.
In order to feel strong, we must have our health.
And if your pelvic pain, bladder, or prolapse struggles are keeping you stuck, it’s time to love yourself a little more.
Over one-fourth of the women in this country are suffering right now from pelvic floor dysfunction that involves pain with intimacy, leaking, pelvic organ prolapse, and weak or no orgasms (5)

- You’re worried that the next time a co-worker makes you laugh that you may just pee your pants…when you’re at home in sweats on a zoom call that’s no big deal…but when we get back to the office, that crushing feeling of panic will begin to set in again.
- You’re worried that all the time you’ve spent sitting these past few months has made your pelvic floor weaker (spoiler alert: it has).
- You’re worried that you might never enjoy intimacy with your partner again — and you feel less of a woman, less passionate about life, because of it.
- You’re worried that if you don’t find an answer to your pelvic problems soon that they will only get worse and thinking about that makes you feel even more depressed.
- You’re worried that the pills your doctor prescribed you have started to change you.
Strong beautiful woman, I want you to know that it doesn’t have to be like this.
You can stop worrying and start thriving TODAY.
All it takes is a decision and a deep intention to dedicate yourself to yourself!
You just have to decide that you’re worth it.
You just have to decide to know your sacred anatomy and how to care for it.
Decide that you’re ready to build a strong foundation for your life — one of vibrant health that makes you feel so amazing that you want to sing from the rooftops.
